From railway stations to archaeological sites, via ports and airports. In summer 2026, Barumini once again strengthens its role as a strategic hub for Sardinian cultural tourism. From 1 July until 30 September (with the possibility of an extension), the “Barumini Link” service returns – an integrated connection that allows residents and visitors to reach one of Sardinia’s iconic landmarks, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in a simple and sustainable way.
The initiative, promoted once again this year through collaboration between the Fondazione Barumini Sistema Cultura, the Municipality of Barumini, the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Sardinia, and Trenitalia, confirms a mobility model aimed at connecting the region’s main transport hubs with the island’s archaeological and cultural heart.
The service represents an important step in building an increasingly efficient accessibility system for inland areas, enabling travellers to reach the nuragic complex of Su Nuraxi, Casa Zapata, and the exhibition spaces of the Giovanni Lilliu Centre via integrated connections with the main regional railway lines, linked to Sardinia’s ports and airports.
The goal is to facilitate travel, encourage sustainable tourism, and offer visitors a simpler, more organised travel experience, while at the same time enhancing a territory that continues to be one of the Mediterranean’s leading cultural and archaeological hubs.
The renewal of the service confirms the shared commitment of the involved institutions to invest in accessibility as a strategic factor for increasing tourist flows, while also ensuring greater connection opportunities for local communities and visitors choosing to explore Sardinia’s inland areas.
Following the positive results of previous editions, Barumini Link thus confirms itself as a virtuous example of institutional collaboration, successfully combining mobility, culture, and territorial promotion, and helping to strengthen the bond between the region’s main transport routes and one of the world’s most important archaeological heritages.
Throughout summer 2026, once again, the gates of Sardinia will be that much closer to the heart of its millennia-old history.
The Barumini Link Service
To use the service, go to the station ticket offices or visit the Trenitalia website and:

enter “BARUMINI” as your arrival or departure station;

choose the date and time;

check the available options;

purchase your ticket.
Please note: the bus service is an integral part of a combined train+bus offer. It is not possible to purchase a ticket for the San Gavino–Barumini section only: to use the Barumini Link, you must be in possession of a valid railway ticket (Trenitalia) to reach Barumini from any other station in Sardinia.
