Barumini Foundation

Our vision for managing cultural heritage in Sardinia

The Barumini Cultural Heritage Foundation was established in December 2006 with the aim of innovating the management of cultural heritage in the Barumini area.
After the UNESCO recognition in 1997, which listed Su Nuraxi Archaeological Area among the World Heritage Sites, the growing cultural and tourist demand required a new organisation capable of ensuring quality services and sustainable development.

To meet these goals, the Municipality of Barumini entrusted the Foundation with the management of the entire local cultural network: Su Nuraxi,Casa Zapata Museum Complex, and Giovanni Lilliu Centre.

Today, the Foundation is considered one of the most advanced models in Sardinia for the enhancement of cultural heritage and a reference point for sustainable tourism.
The Foundation operates with statutory and managerial autonomy and has become a virtuous example of cultural heritage governance at both regional and national levels.

Our work

The Foundation’s mission goes far beyond preservation and maintenance.
It actively promotes a wide range of cultural activities, including:

With nearly 70 professionals  archaeologists, historians, architects, museum operators, tourist guides, technicians and maintenance staff the Foundation guarantees high standards of quality, thanks to continuous training and professional development in hospitality, museum education, foreign languages and communication.

Our Vision
